AUGUST THEME READER’S DIGEST - BE READY

It is with great joy and gratitude to the Almighty God that I welcome you to the new month. It is our year of Perfect Jubilee and surely the Lord, whose name is above all other names and circumstances is moving us to our higher ground. I pray that the remaining months of the year will be full of his goodness and blessings in our lives in Jesus name.

Brethren, there is no other better time than now to remind ourselves that the end times are here and that every believer must be prepared for the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ so as not to be caught unaware.

Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore, be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” Matthew 24:42-44

A superintendent of a Christian school who was concerned about the students’ classroom that was in disarray told the students to make sure their desks are always clean and that he will return one day to inspect their desks and the person with the neatest desk will be given a $100 bill. With excitement the students began cleaning their desks expecting the superintendent to come. After several weeks the students grew weary and said ‘I doubt if he will come back at all, he just said that to make us keep our desk clean’. But one girl in the class continue to dutifully clean her desk. Close to the end of the term the superintendent returned and found that every other student’s desks were not kept except for that girl. He handed over the $100 bill to the girl and said to others that this girl never stopped believing I would return so she kept her desk in perfect order, she didn’t need to worry about what day or even what time of day I would arrive because she was always ready.

Always ready is the key word in our Christian journey. He will have a ready people, for when the

Bridegroom came in Matthew 25:10, they that were ready went in with him to the marriage and the door was shut. Will you be in that ready company?

In the above story, the girl was daily expecting the superintendent so she was daily prepared. You

should live daily expecting that Jesus may come now. Constantly crucify the flesh so you won’t yield to its lust. Apostle Paul in 1Corinthians 15:31 said ‘…..I die daily’. Genuinely repent and forsake your sins, forgive anyone that offends you, love the Lord and your neighbor, be diligent and zealous in doing the work of God, pray without ceasing, attend bible study regularly and allow the word of God to rule your affairs,

Hebrew 10:24-25 says ‘And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not

forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

The signs of his coming are everywhere and it is imminent. I therefore, charge you to learn from the wise virgins in Matthew 25:1-12 and take heed to yourselves to be watchful, carrying extra oil and grace as we await the coming of our Lord in holiness and righteousness, holding fast to our faith and in great sobriety, so He could meet us ready.

Happy New Month
